SUMMARY:EDC Performance Expo - April 27 2024
DESCRIPTION:The EDC Performance Expo is an event for the concealed carrier. This event will cover many topics but all apply to the conceal carrier. Course blocks will be taught by Advent Training\, Odyssey Training And Consulting as well as Dragon Defense. Students will train with each of these instructors to get a holistic approach to conceal carrying. Training blocks will be 3 hours each. \n  \nThis is not a beginner event. You’ll need to have a firm understanding of your firearm\, the fundamentals and safety beforehand. Students will be asked to leave if they do not meet these requirements and a refund will not be issued. \nLength: 10 hours \nStart Time: 8:00 AM \nLocation: Farm Training Center; Fairfield\, Utah. Roughly one to two weeks before the class date an email will be sent to notify which bay and where to park. \n  \nStudents will need all of the following for the entire day’s event. \n\nNotepad and pen (Take Notes!)\nSharpie or Marker\nEye and Ear Protection (electronic ear protection is preferred)\nShoes or boots\, no open toe or sandals\nSeasonal weather gear (i.e. rain\, cold). We shoot rain or shine.\nRange appropriate attire. No low cut shirts. Hot brass burns.\nWater (Bring lots as the range has no facilities but does have a Porta Potty).\n\n  \n\nSnacks\, and/or a lunch. This dynamic three-hour block of instruction combines insights into verbal commands\, situational awareness training\, and physical readiness exercises. Participants will delve into analytical considerations surrounding third-party defense\, enhance their situational awareness\, and develop physical capabilities to create a safe and effective response. \nPrerequisites: The shooting focus is one handed and it is recommended to be familiar with this skill (both support and strong hand) to control the recoil with one hand. We will be using kettlebells so it is slightly physical. Students should be able to safely and effectively hold a 10lbs kettlebell parallel to the ground while shooting with the opposite hand. While holding the kettlebell they should be able to hit a B8 repair center from 10 yards 10 times without a time limit. \n  \nRequired Equipment: \n\nHandgun\n200 rounds of reliable ammunition\nHandgun Holster (Leather\, shoulder\, cross-draw or SERPA holsters are PROHIBITED)\nMagazine Holster.\nAt least 2 magazines (Bring more if you have them). At least 5 magazines if single stack.\nSturdy belt for holster.\n\n\nBe sure to bring your Concealed Carry setup for this block of instruction. If you are security or law enforcement bring your work setup. \n  \nInstructor: \n  \n \n  \n  \nScott Garcia started Advent Training in 2020 as a result of being frustrated with other training courses. His classes are not cookie-cutter and he tailors his classes to you. See the “About Us” section on Adventtraining.org for a more in-depth bio of Scott. \n  \n\nPRECISION MARKSMANSHIP UNDER STRESS \n\nThis class focuses on the true defense use of a firearm. Dragon Defense continues to grow to train responsibly armed individuals to protect what they love most. \n\n  \nVEHICLE DYNAMICS \n  \nVehicle Dynamics explores the unique aspects of self-defense around vehicles. As we have a high likelihood of being assaulted near vehicles\, we will explore best practices to maximize our protection and enable ourselves to win. We will cover common vehicle myths\, and students will be equipped with a gameplan to offer the highest chance of success in a vehicle gunfight. \n  \nGear List: \n\nHandgun\n200 rounds of training ammo\n10 rounds of your preferred duty/self-defense ammo\nHolster (ideally a Kydex concealment holster or duty holster)\neye/ear protection (there is increased risk of glass/metal frag\, so good eye pro is a must!)\nmag pouches\nan open mind\n\n  \nInstructor: \n \nChris Cook of Odyssey Training and Consulting has been a serious student of self-defense and shooting performance for over 10 years. SUMMARY:AT - Concealed Carry Red Dot 1 - September 9 2023
DESCRIPTION:The red dot equipped handgun has become the preferred conceal carry method for many responsible gun owners. Those who have experienced frustration with a red dot handgun are either frustrated because they cannot keep the dot steady enough in the window to take an accurate shot\, they lose the dot after recoil or cannot initially find the dot during presentation. Another potential frustration is their draw is not as fast as they want it to be from concealment. In this course\, you will learn how to confidently navigate through these frustrations or any optic malfunction that may arise with the red dot. \n  \nPrerequisites: Student must have a firm understanding of the Fundamentals and be safe throughout the course. \n  \nThis is not a beginner course. You’ll need to have a firm understanding of the fundamentals beforehand and should be able to consistently pass the 5×5 drill from concealment (target found on Luckygunner.com; just Google “5×5 Drill”). We will be starting the course with this drill to get an understanding of everyone’s skill level.\n \n  \nClass Instruction Includes: \n\nCarry Position\n \n\nAIWB and IWB: Why those carry positions.
