SUMMARY:BS - Rifle LVL 2
DESCRIPTION:This is a level 2 rifle course that will stress fundamentals\, and most importantly providing the “how” and the “why” in addition to what you are trying to accomplish throughout the training day. \nBy the end of the day each shooter will know where they are at and what to work on as you go forward in your training. This is not a course where you will just be led through drills and told what you are doing wrong. Here we will work on fixing them based on what works for you. Identifying your deficiencies and giving you the tools to improve is the end state of the class. We will briefly touch on fundamentals before we work on movement\, barrier shooting\, pie-ing off doors\, and stress courses. \n\n\nThis LVL 2 class is meant as an intermediate to advanced class for rifle shooting. We will cover the fundamentals for a brief part of the day before training on movement\, barriers\, and pie-ing off angles. \n\n\nThe class will receive a safety brief\, medical plan\, loading unloading procedures\, range rules\, and of course filling out waivers before we begin. \n\n\nThe program of instruction for the day will begin with a standards test\, fundamentals\, movement to static positions\, continuous movement\, barriers\, working angles\, and finish off with a stress shoot. The majority of this day will be spent moving and shooting. \n\n\nMinimum round count is 550 for rifle and 100 for pistol\, and as always\, more ammo is better. \n\n\nOnce you are registered for this class you will receive a pre-class questionnaire to fill out and return and your class packing list.

SUMMARY:BS - Rifle LVL 1
DESCRIPTION:This is a level 1 Rifle course that will stress fundamentals\, and most importantly providing the “how” and the “why” in addition to what you are trying to accomplish throughout the training day. We will progress from fundamentals to multiple target transitions and an intro into movement. \nThis class is meant as an intro to rifle shooting for the AR-15 platform and is considered a level one class. If you wish to use a different style of rifle please email before signing up to confirm with me. We will cover the fundamentals for the majority of the day and focus on diagnosing the shooter’s individual problems to ensure progress. \nThe class will receive a safety brief\, medical plan\, loading unloading procedures\, range rules\, and of course filling out waivers before we begin. \nThe program of instruction for the day will begin with a standards test\, fundamentals\, actions such as scanning after an engagement\, and progress into multiple target engagements and an intro into movement. \nHave the ability to carry at least one extra mag on your body. Students can use a plate carrier or chest rig system if you want. Duty belts and kit are recommended if that is what you primarily use. \nMinimum round count is 550 for rifle and 100 for pistol. As always\, more ammo is better. The pistol is required for the class to train on weapons transitions. \nOnce you are registered for this class you will receive a pre-class questionnaire to fill out and return and your class packing list.

SUMMARY:AT - Concealed Carry Red Dot 1 - May 17 2025
DESCRIPTION:The red dot equipped handgun has become the preferred conceal carry method for many responsible gun owners. Those who have experienced frustration with a red dot handgun are either frustrated because they cannot keep the dot steady enough in the window to take an accurate shot\, they lose the dot after recoil or cannot initially find the dot during presentation. Another potential frustration is their draw is not as fast as they want it to be from concealment. In this course\, you will learn how to confidently navigate through these frustrations or any optic malfunction that may arise with the red dot. \n  \nPrerequisites: Student must have a firm understanding of the Fundamentals and be safe throughout the course. \n  \nThis is not a beginner course. You’ll need to have a firm understanding of the fundamentals beforehand and should be able to consistently pass the 5×5 drill from concealment (target found on Luckygunner.com; just Google “5×5 Drill”). We will be starting the course with this drill to get an understanding of everyone’s skill level.\n \n  \nClass Instruction Includes: \n\nCarry Position\n \n\nAIWB and IWB: Why those carry positions. Benefits and Negatives of each\n\n\n\n\n\nCover Garments\n\nConsistency in draw with multiple cover garments.\n\n\n\n\n\nMRDS\n \n\nBrands to avoid\n\n\n\nConstant On VS Off when not in use.\n\n\n\nDot Brightness Setting for multiple environments and time of day.\n\n\n\nBattery Choices\n\n\n\n\n\nAmmunition Choices\n\nTarget Ammo\n\n\n\nSelf Defense Ammo\n\n\n\n\n\nZeroing MRDS\n\nOptic Zero\n\n\n\nZero Distance\n\n\n\n\n\nHandgun Fundamentals\n\nRed Dot Specific\n\n\n\n\nFinding the Dot\n \n\nDuring Presentation\n\n\nWhen lost during recoil\n\n\n\n\n\nReloads\n\nTactical versus Speed\n\n\n\n\n  \n\nPotential Optic Malfunctions: How to use optic when battery is dead\, emitter is not working\, or optic lens is occluded\n\n  \n  \n  \nRequired Equipment: Select More Info link below for complete course equipment list and more information.

SUMMARY:AT - Concealed Carry Red Dot 1 - October 19 2024
SUMMARY:PPS - PISTOL & RIFLE APPLICATIONS WITH VELOX TRAINING GROUP
DESCRIPTION:Pistol & Rifle Applications is a look into how to build a solid foundation with your pistol (Day 1) and Rifle (day 2). We break things way down and then build back up so as shooters not only have a solid understanding of the fundamentals and mechanics but\, they understand the why’s of how they’re training. This course is intended to be a road map to becoming proficient. This is an intermediate level class that a new shooter looking to find out ways to step up to the next level will greatly benefit from. It’s also a class that higher level shooters can come to refine techniques and learn to push speed and accuracy. Pistol & Rifle Applications is a great class to not only build confidence but to learn where to go from here. \nTOPICS COVERED\n\nsafety \ngun handling principles \ngear selection \ndryfire\, hows and whys\ngrip and stance/recoil management \nzeroing \nunorthodox shooting positions\nsight picture/what’s acceptable and what’s not.\nmounting your rifle\ndrawing with efficiency \nvision\nconfirmation levels\ntrigger press and how it relates to accuracy\ncalling shots\nrifle to pistol transitions\nreloading with consistency\ntarget transitions/eye speed\nhow to move safely and effectively with a rifle.\nshooting on the move\nentries and exits\nsingle hand shooting\nlonger drills/stages\n\n  \nInstructor Bio\nNick has been shooting for 12 years. It is expected to gather 100 shooters from across the USA.  Well-respected firearms trainers\, Darryl Bolke\, Greg Ellifritz\, Steve Fisher\, Mark Fricke\, Erick Gelhaus\, Rob Haught\, and Matt Haught – all specialists in the Art of the Shotgun – will showcase their unique perspectives\, philosophy\, and specialized exercises\, drills\, and accuracy evaluations tailored specifically for the contextual use of the Defensive Shotgun. \nSample a variety of condensed training blocks to improve your skillset while experiencing different curricula\, teaching styles\, personalities\, and focus areas from the cadre of instructors. \nIn 2022 we did a test run of this course in Dallas\, TX to an invite-only group of students and it was a huge success.  The only disappointment we heard was when they learned they would need to wait an entire year to do this again! \nWe followed up with Thunderstick Summit 2023 in Las Vegas and even though it was 90 degrees\, everyone learned something new in a safe and productive environment. \nParticipants will rotate between different ranges\, receiving lectures and demonstrations from each instructor. This round-robin format allows attendees to gain valuable insights and individual perspectives on the benefits and limitations of utilizing the fighting shotgun for self-defense purposes. \nThe training schedule for Day One\, Day Two\, and the initial portion of Day Three will be divided into four-hour training blocks. Following lunch on Day Three\, there will be live-fire demonstrations by manufacturers\, a friendly competition\, and a concluding Q&A discussion with the instructors. \nLunch: Will be available on-site or you can bring your own. \nTravel/Lodging: Fly into Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) where you can rent a car. We recommend booking a hotel in Lehi (closest)\, American Fork (middle)\, or Provo (furthest).  There are Airbnb’s closer to the range in the small communities of Eagle Mountain and Silverlake (as of 5/31/2024). The range is situated about a 40-minute drive from Lehi.

SUMMARY:AT - Concealed Carry Red Dot 1 - August 10 2024
