SUMMARY:EDC Performance Expo - November 16 2024
DESCRIPTION:Event Details\nThe EDC Performance Expo is an event focused on the concealed carrier. This event will cover many topics but all apply to this focus. Course blocks will be taught by Advent Training\, Odyssey Training And Consulting as well as Dragon Defense. Students will train with each of these instructors to get a holistic approach to conceal carrying. Training blocks will be 3 hours each. \n  \nThis is not a beginner event. You’ll need to have a firm understanding of your firearm\, the fundamentals and safety beforehand. Students will be asked to leave if they do not meet these requirements and a refund will not be issued. \n  \n  \nLength: 10 hours \nStart Time: 8:00 AM \nLocation: Farm Training Center; Fairfield\, Utah. Roughly one to two weeks before the class date an email will be sent to notify which bay and where to park. \nClass Size/Minimum: 30 Spots/ 9 Spots \n  \nStudents will need all of the following for the entire day’s event. \n\nNotepad and pen (Take Notes!)\nSharpie or Marker\nEye and Ear Protection (electronic ear protection is preferred)\nShoes or boots\, no open toe or sandals\nSeasonal weather gear (i.e. rain\, cold). We shoot rain or shine.\nRange appropriate attire. No low cut shirts. Hot brass burns.\nWater (Bring lots as the range has no facilities but does have a Porta Potty).\n\n  \n\nSnacks\, and/or a lunch. We will have a 30 minute lunch break and there is no time to drive to get food. BRING FOOD!\nBrimmed Hat\nSunblock\nGun Cleaning Kit and Lubrication for Handgun and Rifle\nMedical IFAK highly suggested but not required\n\n  \nCourses:\nTrigger Cognition\nIf you want to become a skilled and proficient shooter\, mastering trigger cognition is essential. This block of instruction will teach you the skills and techniques necessary to understand trigger cognition. \nSome of the topics covered: \n\nExploratory vs Exact shooting\nTrigger Discipline versus Trigger Ignorance\nTrigger Anatomy: Understanding the vitals of your trigger system\nTrigger Prep: How and when to use it effectively\n\nAvoiding improper trigger manipulation during the draw\n\n\nCognition Drills\nOther Topics to help the student during personal practice.\n\nPrerequisites: Solid familiarity with the participant’s handgun\, understanding of fundamental shooting principles\, and demonstrated safe handling and manipulation of the firearm. Some prior shooting experience\, whether through range practice or introductory courses\, is also recommended. Course will start with a cold start drill to determine skillset and experience level. \nRequired Equipment: \n\nHandgun\n400 rounds of reliable ammunition\nHandgun Holster (Leather\, shoulder\, cross-draw or SERPA holsters are PROHIBITED)\nMagazine Holster.\nAt least 2 magazines (Bring more if you have them). At least 5 magazines if single stack.\nSturdy belt for holster.\n\nBe sure to bring your Everyday Carry setup for this block of instruction. We recommend you use your EDC handgun\, holster and concealment location to get solid instruction for your individual situation. If you are security or law enforcement bring your work setup. \n  \nInstructor: \n \n  \nScott Garcia started Advent Training in 2020 as a result of being frustrated with other training courses. His classes are not cookie-cutter and he tailors his classes to you. See the “About Us” section on Adventtraining.org for a more in-depth bio of Scott. \n\nLethal Confrontations and the Mental Fight\nThis class is focused on the true defense use of a pistol along with the mental fight. Students will gain a complete understanding of what to do before\, during\, and after a lethal force incident. A wide range of scenarios and subtopics will be taught throughout the course block. This course is specifically designed to get the good guys to win fights. Do not go to the fight unprepared. \nGear list: \n\nQuality Handgun\n150 rounds of training ammo\n3 Magazines (Minimum)\nStrongside Belt Holster (Appendix works too)\nSturdy Gun Belt\nEye Protection\nEar Protection\nSpare Magazine Pouch\n\nInstructor: \n \nBryce Mondragon has served in the Utah law enforcement community for the last seven years while founding Dragon Defense. Bryce has over 1\,579 hours of documented training including firearms\, de-escalation\, arrest control\, emergency vehicle operations and team tactics. Dragon Defense continues to grow to train responsibly armed individuals to protect what they love most. \n\n  \nROAD RAGE DEFENSE:\n  \nRoad Range Defense explores the unique aspects of self-defense around vehicles resulting from a road rage incident. As we have a high likelihood of being assaulted near vehicles\, we will explore best practices to maximize our protection and enable ourselves to win. Whether alone or driving with third parties\, and students will be equipped with a gameplan to offer the highest chance of success if we are trapped in a violent incident. \n  \nGear List: \n\nHandgun\n200 rounds of training ammo\nHolster (ideally a Kydex concealment holster or duty holster)\neye/ear protection (there is increased risk of glass/metal frag\, so good eye pro is a must!)\nmag pouches\nan open mind\n\n  \nInstructor: \n \nChris Cook of Odyssey Training and Consulting has been a serious student of self-defense and shooting performance for over 10 years. He has over 700 hours of professional training from schools such as Centrifuge Training\, Haley Strategic Partners\, Shivworks and many more. The purpose of Odyssey Training and Consulting is to provide well-researched\, high percentile solutions to the problem of civilian self defense.
