SUMMARY:Gateway Defense Performance Pistol
DESCRIPTION:Our flagship 2-day class was designed for the shooter who is ready to take their performance to the next level. Whether you are a responsible armed citizen with a focus on defensive shooting\, a law enforcement officer\, or a budding competition shooter\, this class is for you! Shooting in any context requires us to be both fast and accurate. You simply cannot have one without the other. In this class we will start by doing a deep dive into the fundamentals of shooting. We will build a solid\, principle-based foundation on day 1\, and then learn how to apply those fundamentals to more complex shooting problems on day 2. Come prepared to shoot a lot over two full days approx: 0800 – 1700 hrs \n  \nTopics Covered \n\nThe fundamentals of grip\, sight management\, and trigger control\nStance\, recoil management\, and faster splits\nPractical accuracy from 5 yards 25 yards +\nVisual confirmation levels: identifying and applying the correct sighting solution for targets of any given size/distance\nOWB draw: consistently finding the dot on the draw\, and applying efficiency principles to execute the infamous “scoop” draw on both competition and level 1 retention holsters\nTarget transitions: targets at varying distances and sizes\, close and wide transitions\nMovement: entries and exits\, blending positions\, shooting on the move\nHit Factor scoring: how to utilize HF to properly measure both speed and accuracy and strike the best balance of both\n\n  \nNOTE: while beginner shooters will definitely benefit from this class\, this SHOULD NOT be your first training class. Students will be required to have comprehensive understanding of gun safety\, be able to work out of a holster safely\, and be able to hit an A-zone or 8” circle on demand from 10 yards with no time limit. \n  \n\n\nMinimum Gear Requirements\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA modern\, reliable\, semi-automatic pistol chambered in .380\, 9mm\, .40 S&W\, or .45 ACP. A backup gun is not necessary\, but recommended.\nAt least 3-4 serviceable magazines with a minimum capacity of 10 rounds. The more magazines the better.\nA Kydex holster that fully encapsulates the trigger guard (either OWB or IWB\, no small of the back) or a duty holster such as Safariland 6000 or 7000 series holsters. No SERPA\, nylon\, or leather holsters allowed.\nA sturdy gun belt (concealed carry belt or battle belt/competition belt style).\nMinimum of 2 magazine carriers.\n1000 rounds of ammunition (500 per day)\nEye protection (both clear and tinted recommended)\nEar protection (electronic hearing protection required)\nWater and snacks\nTools to service your optics\, lights\, holsters\, guns\, etc.\nSpare batteries for optics and lights.\nRain gear (we train rain or shine)\n\nREFUND POLICY: Refunds will only be given if Gateway Defense has to cancel a class. No refund will be given due to a student being unable to attend. A full class credit will be issued for a future Gateway Defense class by notifying brennan@gateway-defense.com no less than 14 days prior to the class date.
